The Brisbane Musical Theatre Competition showcases talented Queensland performers and encourages the love of Musical Theatre. It provides an opportunity for performers to promote their talent to the professional theatre community.
Performers are selected out of 50 or more contestants who audition in the weeks prior to the Gala Performance. They are judged on their musicality, stage presentation and overall entertainment value by a panel of experienced and dedicated people in the fields of theatre and vocal arts.
The Brisbane Musical Theatre Competition and Gala Performance (Finals) arose out of the vision of a small group of local musical theatre enthusiasts. They saw the need for a competition to promote up and coming local talent.
From its humble beginnings in a local suburban hall to its current location at the Kedron Wavell Services Club The Brisbane Musical Theatre Competition has gone from strength to strength in its twelve year history.
Each year we are delighted to be able to present our audience at the Gala Performance with a wonderful afternoon/evening of live entertainment.
We currently receive entries from all over Queensland and even northern NSW.
It was founded in Queensland, Australia in 1997 and incorporated in 2000.
At the same time we provide a platform for talented performers to compete for great prizes at this unique annual event.
